After my last attempt at “boring yarn” didn’t quite hit the mark, I decided to lean into the chaos. If I couldn’t make it subtle, I was going to make it loud. Enter: the high-voltage purple and yellow 2-ply with, not one, but two different angelina colors!
I went into this with a specific mission: keep the plies crisp and the colors separated. As you can see in the video, the intention was a clean, barber-pole effect.
Spinning is a journey, and mine took a little detour. About halfway through, the “perfectly separated” goal decided to blend into something a bit more organic.
- Half the skein is a crisp barber-pole; the other half is a beautifully chaotic mix.
- The Lesson: Sometimes the fiber has its own plans, and fighting it just takes the fun out of the wheel.
Why did I go Berserk? I’m calling this my “palate cleanser.” By going absolutely wild with these brights now, I’m hoping I’ve satisfied my craving for colour so that my next project MAY finally be that “utterly boring” (but secretly beautiful) yarn I’ve been chasing.
