Felting 15 Years Old Wool

I am not sure I have shared it openly on my blog yet, but I am actually using up my entire stash of wool right now. I have so much wool and yarn that I bought in the last 15+ years that sometimes I think I could open a shop (and this is NOT intended as a flex)… so I have decided to not buy any more of it until I finish what I have.

To be fair, right now I also have no budget for any more wool and yarn, so I thought I would just go for it and try and make something beautiful out of the kilograms of wool that I have, forgotten in the attic.

So, when I got a request for a bag from my nephew (it is a gift), I went and picked some of the first wool I ever bought, which was a Kg of light brown roving… to see if I could make the bag out of it.

DIY Felt Flowers & a Ladybug

In this Video Tutorial I show you how I have needle felted these whimsical flowers on the bag which I had wet felted in the previous post.

As you can imagine this bag is for a little kid who loves flowers and ladybugs.

It is a very simple tutorial and the perfect subject for beginners in needle felting!

All you need is colourful wool (I used rovings) and a single felting needle.

My Felted Earring Organizer

I have had this idea for a long time: a jewelry organizer made entirely of felted wool. Even though I’ve been thinking about it for a while, I never actually sat down to make it… until yesterday!

I decided to start with the simplest version, as I actually have multiple ideas for similar jewellery organizers. This one is a felted “booklet” with two pages where you can freely place your earrings – I created this one mostly for my stud earrings.

Solving a Messy Problem

While it a simple object, I am really happy of how it turned out because it solved a real problem for me. Before this, my stud earrings were just sitting at the bottom of a drawer in a big mess. Now, they have a home, and the whole thing looks pretty neat!

St. Joseph and baby Jesus in Wool

A few weeks ago, I stepped into a different world.

For a live Nativity scene, I took on the role of a needle felt maker in a small, reimagined shop. Surrounded by the bustle of the scene, I spent the day teaching teens how to guide the needle and shape the wool. It was a beautiful reminder of why I love what I do – sharing a craft that is as old as time.
